Map Meta:
Laning Phase:
While this map has many different, and potentially successful, strategies the traditional one is listed below. This is because of its ease of execution and its low requirement for communication and coordination.
Meta Strategy: 4-1 Rotation
In this simple strategy 4 members of your team will rotate from the middle lane to the bottom lane, back to the middle lane and then repeat. To execute this strategy you'll want to kill the minions as fast as possible and rotate. Ignore kills early on - your main goal is to get ahead on killing minions. Once your enemy is forced to soak experience as the minions die to the towers and there are no more minions for your team to kill - you'll want to become more aggressive with your rotations. Deal free damage to enemies that are overextended and punish your enemies if they try to rotate themselves.
This setup has a solo laner in the top lane early on. This is because the top lane is furthest from the other lanes. Also, the top lane's angles of attack are inconvenient. This means that running a solo lane in the top lane is safer, than running a solo lane in the bottom lane. For your enemies to gank the top lane, it will take the extra time to rotate and more risk because of bad pathing options.
With the 4-1 rotation you'll want to run a 4 man that has these attributes: enough wave clear for two lanes, kill pressure from a cc chain and an aggressive warrior. In this strategy you'll likely want to draft your solo lane last so that you can have a winning match-up. This is because many of your team's resources will be dedicated bottom and your rotation will break down if you attempt to gank the solo lane.

First Objective:
On Infernal Shrines the very first objective of the game is quite weak! In many professional games you'll notice that the first Punisher is often ignored, or fewer resources are allocated to it. As the game progresses Punishers will scale up in both damage and health - and the first Punisher, being rather fragile, dies easily to the towers. While committing your entire team of five people gives the best chance of securing a Punisher, its often better to continue to soak all lanes during this first phase. This is because the reward from the first Punisher is rather small - normally just a few towers and walls - not an entire fort.
Between Objectives:
Between Punisher phases you will want to fight for smaller objectives such as camps and experience. Keep track of which lane most recently spawned a Punisher, and use the camp in that lane to plan a timing attack. The goal here is to make your enemies choose between defending the camp, or being in position to secure a Punisher. Look for any and all advantages you can gain in this period as it can make your next Punisher phase an easy win! Consider that the main goal of the game is to destroy structures. Therefore prioritize buildings over smaller wins such as camp in the same lane!
Late Objectives:
Late into the game the Punishers become very powerful. As 5, your team should look to secure the map objective. Unlike some other maps, the key to winning shrines is to dominate a teamfight. Look to gain advantages before the objective appears and then use those advantages to win the teamfight. Make sure to control the choke points on this map, as forcing you enemy to funnel through them or split up will allow for a much easier win. Some shrines have a single large entrance - such as the bottom part of the bottom shrine, holding this will make for a swift victory when the bottom shrine spawns.
Types of Great Heroes for this Map:
There are three types of heroes that really shine on this map. First up we have a class of heroes called 'double-soakers' . Double soakers are able to obtain experience in two lanes, while the other four members are the team are elsewhere. These characters have two specific traits in common. They must have enough wave clear on their kit to be able to kill two waves in 30 seconds and they need some minimum form of self-sustain. Heroes such as Jania and Kael'thas often get lumped into this category improperly since they only meet the first requirement. Because double soakers bring a strong capability to kill minions, they are very good at securing shrines quickly too. Wave clear is essential on this map as it is synergistic with the objective.
Because wave clear is a top priority on this map, the strong heroes in the meta that bring wave clear always do well too.
Finally, heroes that have synergies with or against the objective are often prioritized. These heroes can help secure objectives, enhance the power of your own, or reduce the value of an enemy Punisher.
